Deborah Glenn

Deborah Jackson Glenn was born to Betty and Melvin Jackson, Senior on July 14, 1957 in Midland, Texas. She was one of seven children and grew up with a healthy balance of love and companionship with three brothers and three sisters. She also loved attending school, and was educated through the Midland ISD school district. In highschool, she was a member of the Rebelettes, and she graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in 1975. In her professional career, Deborah worked in the areas of banking, oil and gas, but ultimately found her home away from home at Midland Memorial Hospital, where she retired in 2014 after 32 years of service.

Deborah was a single mother to her three children; Jeremy, Alyssia and Shawana, and worked very hard and tirelessly to ensure that they never lacked anything. She also loved her grandchildren dearly, and played an active role in every aspect of their lives even as her health was failing. Deborah loved her extended family and friends, and like her mother and grandmother, never met a stranger. She served as a light, confidant, and help to anyone in need. Deborah was raised with strong roots in the church. She loved the Lord with all of her heart, and worked diligently in the church. Being a member of Alexander Temple Church of God in Christ since birth, Deborah participated in the Sunshine Band, Purity Class, YWCC, Usher Board, Choir and the Kitchen Ministry. She was also the President of the Purity Class in the early 2000s and the Head of the Kitchen Ministry from 2017 until her health began to decline.

She loved to cook and bake, and considered them her love language. Deborah also loved to travel with her children and grandchildren, and traveled all across the country using trains, planes and automobiles. However, she was not a fan traveling on water, as was discovered on the ferry in New York City. She loved to sing and could add a gospel flare to any genre of music, and was known for her tambourine playing skills. She loved game shows such as Jeopardy, Let's Make a Deal, Family Feud and The Price is Right. She also had a rotation of speaking with her lifelong friends- Diahn Berry, Vanessa Cashaw, Lygail Rabb, Cynthia Johnson Sims, Angela Swindell-Wright, as well as her sister Sheila Jackson Wells. She would routinely talk to them daily and for hours on end.

After a decade of various health challenges, the Lord called her home on June 23, 2026. A special thanks to Davita Dialysis Center, Midland Memorial Hospital, Midland Fire Department, Accent Home Health, Encompass Rehabilitation Center, Midland Surgical Associates and Hospice of Midland for their years of care and support.

Deborah is preceded in death by her parents, Melvin Jackson, Senior and Betty Dickens Jackson and her youngest sister, Regina Jackson. She leaves to cherish in precious memories her children: Jeremy (Veta) Glenn of Waxahachie, Texas, Alyssia Davis of Midland, Texas, and Shawana Glenn of Midland, Texas; her grandchildren: Jeremia Glenn, Maddelyn Davis and Alexander Gambrell; her siblings: Bobby (Evelyn) Hicks, Melvin (Valencia) Jackson, Jr., Michael A. Jackson, Sheila (Gerald) Wells, and Tracy Taylor; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and a community of friends.

Visitation will be held at the Mayberry Funeral Home on July 10, 2026 from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Homegoing service will be on July 11, 2026 at 11 a.m. at Macedonia Baptist Church, and final resting place at Serenity Memorial Gardens next to her beloved parents.
