Henry Neria Gonzales Sr.

Mar 22, 1959 — Jul 4, 2026

On the afternoon of July 4, 2026, Henry "Hungry" Neria Gonzales Sr. was called home to be with the Lord. Surrounded by the love of his family in the comfort of his home, Henry peacefully entered into eternal rest and was joyfully reunited with the love of his life, Alicia "Chachi" Gonzales. As our nation celebrated Independence Day, we find comfort in believing Henry experienced the greatest freedom of all-eternal peace in Heaven. While fireworks would later fill the skies that evening, we know Henry and Chachi had the very best view together.

Born on March 22, 1959, in Midland, Texas, to Sipriano and Margarita Gonzales, Henry lived a life defined by kindness, laughter, generosity, and unwavering love for his family. Although many knew him as Henry, nearly everyone called him "Hungry." He was known for giving just about every family member and friend a special nickname of their own. His famous greetings, playful nicknames, and warm smile made everyone feel welcome. He never met a stranger-only friends he hadn't met yet.

Henry shared an incredible love story with his high school sweetheart, Alicia "Chachi" Gonzales. They were blessed with 46 wonderful years of marriage, and although Henry spent the last two years missing the love of his life after her passing, he never stopped loving her. Their reunion in Heaven is a beautiful reminder that true love never ends. They Built a home filled with faith, laughter, family traditions and unforgettable gatherings. Their love was an inspiration to everyone who knew them.

Henry was a devoted father and his greatest joy was being "Popo" to his grandchildren. Nothing brought him greater happiness than watching them grow.

Whether he was golfing, playing pool, running the neighborhood football boards, or helping someone repair a vehicle, Henry was happiest serving others. He was the mechanic everyone trusted, the neighbor everyone depended on, and the friend who was always willing to lend a hand. His generosity and ability to make everyone feel like family will never be forgotten.

Henry is survived by his children, Tina Gonzales, Margaret Gonzales, Enrique Gonzales-Leyva, and Christopher Gonzales; his cherished son-in-law, Justin Gonzales-Leyva; and his beloved grandchildren, Jayden Sanchez, Alize Sanchez, Eyan "EJ" Gonzales-Leyva, Adalynn Lopez, and "el adoptado" Dre Barber.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Alicia "Chachi" Gonzales; his parents, Sipriano and Margarita Gonzales; and his brothers, Joe Gonzales, Adam Gonzales, and Tony Gonzales. As the last living Changito, Henry carried the memories, traditions, and love of his brothers throughout his life. Today, we find peace in knowing they are all reunited once again.

Our family is deeply grateful for the overwhelming love, prayers, meals, visits, phone calls, and acts of kindness shown during this difficult time. We humbly ask that you continue to keep the Gonzales family in your prayers as we celebrate a life filled with faith, laughter, generosity, and unconditional love.

"Well done, good and faithful servant... Enter into the joy of your Lord."

- Matthew 25:23

Forever Loved. Forever Remembered. Forever "Hungry."
