Henry Anthony Vela, 34, passed away on July 26, 2025. Henry was born May 24, 1991 in Midland, Texas. He was the proud son of Maria and Hegindo "Henry" Herrera. Henry was a man full of life, love, and laughter-someone who left a lasting mark on everyone who knew him.
From a young age, Henry's energy and mischievous spirit made him unforgettable. He earned the nickname "Cricket" because he was always bouncing from couch to couch, always moving, always alive with excitement. He was the kind of kid who could find trouble-but also always found a way through it with heart and determination. More than anything, he wanted to be like his father. As a child, he would sneak into his dad's truck just to be near him, and he carried that devotion into adulthood as he worked hard to provide for his own family.
Henry was a dedicated and talented mechanic who took pride in his work. He was a loving husband and a devoted father, always putting his family first. Whether it was spontaneous road trips, weekend adventures, or quiet moments at home, Henry loved spending time with his kids and making memories that would last forever.
He was the life of the party-always dancing, always cracking jokes, always lifting the mood of every room he entered. He made it a point to keep people smiling, even during hard times. He loved hard and cared deeply, and his sincerity and authenticity drew people to him.
In his later years, Henry made a conscious decision to turn his life around for his family, and he did just that. He became a man of purpose, love, and commitment-proof that change is always possible with love as the reason.
He finally got to travel like he always dreamed, and now he begins the greatest journey of all. Though he is no longer with us in body, his energy, laughter, and love will remain in the hearts of all who knew him.
He is reunited in Heaven with his parents, Maria and Henry Herrera; father in law, Tico Galindo; grandson, Joshua Mateo Fuentes; nephew, Juan Herrera; brother in law, Jose Bencomo; and family friend, Joshua Saucedo.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife Stephanie Vela; siblings, Dora Bencomo, George Losoya, Cindy Vela, Manuel Vela, Jesus Vela, Daniel Vela; daughters, Daniella Bustillos, Delana Bustillos, Izabella Vela, Aadilla Vela, Yahnie Vela, Ryder Vela, Ariel Vela; sons, Jonathan Bustillos (Dalizah), Daniel Vela, Triston Fuentes (Syrianna); grandaughter, Amilanna Fuentes, and Leilani Bustillos; grandson Giovanni Bustillos, as well as a host of other family and friends.
Henry will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
