John Henry "Ikie" Washington Jr. was born on September 21, 1948, in Fairfield, Texas, to the parents of John Henry Washington Sr. and Maurine Lapkin.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Henry and Maurine; brother, Booker T. "Crip" Washington; sisters, Maudine "Dino" Merchant, Mae Dee Milton, and Mercy "Tina" Smith; and brother, Norman Lewis "Slick" Washington.
John Henry Washington was in the United States Army from 1969 until 1971, where he served in the 576th Ord Co (Ammo). He received the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal. After being honorably discharged from the military, John worked in the construction field. He also spent 20 years working at the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo.
John's hobbies included playing softball. He loved lottery scratch-off tickets and watching old western cowboy movies. He also loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
John "Ikie" married Norma Jones in July 1969. To this union, one daughter, Pamela Walker, and one son, John Amron, were born. John and Norma separated in 1984 and were reunited in 2021.
Those who remain to cherish his memory include: his wife, Norma Washington; daughter, Pamela Walker; son, John Amron; grandchildren, Antwon Washington, Shaquiri Graham, Calvin Graham, Bri'Ann Washington, John Amron Jr., Jonah Washington, and Jayce Washington; 11 great-grandchildren; one brother, George Earl Washington; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
