Gurline Butler completed her race on June 10, 2025. Gurline was born on February 9, 1943 in Palestine, Texas to Rosie Lee Anthony. She moved to Midland, Texas as a teenager and attended Carver Senior High School where she met and later married Garfield Hart Sr.
She moved to Dallas, Texas for a brief period, but returned to Midland. She worked for Midland Independent School District for many years before she retired. She loved her children, grandchildren, family and friends. She loved to fish, talk to friends, gardening, and singing in the church choir. She attended Antioch Baptist Church for many years before moving to Mt. Rose Baptist Church. She took great pride in talking to her son Garfield and daughter Melissa on a daily basis.
She was a Christian who loved the word and did not skip a day praising her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
She is reunited in heaven with her mother; Rosie Lee Anthony, husbands; Garfield Hart Sr., Willie Bailey, Williams Fobbs Sr., and George Butler Jr., brothers; Anthony Coleman and Curtis Anthony, sisters; Alma Cook and Ella Mae Brown, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins
She is survived by her son; Garfield (Estella) Hart III, and daughter Melissa (Carlton), Johnson, sister; Beacha Jackson, step-children; whom she considered her own, Patricia (Tootsie) Sheffield, Faye Johnson, Clara Fobbs, Velma (Jean) Turner, Debrah Shaver, Tonsie Turner, and William Fobbs Jr., grandchildren; LaKeisha Josie, Angel Monroe, Latasha Collins, Hillary Chenette, Joshua K. Hart, nine great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.
