Melondy "Dede" LaCarol Caston, age 43, passed away on Saturday, October 11, 2025, after courageously fighting a long and hard battle with cancer.
Dede was a shining light in her community - known for her deep love of cheerleading and football, and her unwavering support for the children and youth she helped raise and mentor. She poured her heart into every game, every cheer, and every young person she guided. Much like her parents before her, Dede opened her heart and home to many, raising her nieces as her own and caring for countless children whom she treated like family. She had a special gift for making everyone feel loved and welcomed, often taking children to church and ensuring they knew they were valued and seen.
A true artist at heart, Dede was known for her creativity, vibrant spirit, and contagious laughter. With her loud, joyful laugh and beautiful brown eyes, she could light up any room she entered. Her friends became family, and her gatherings were always filled with love, laughter, and life.
Above all, Dede loved the Lord. Her faith was the foundation of her strength, compassion, and perseverance. She faced every challenge with grace and unwavering trust in God.
Though her time on earth was far too short, Dede's legacy of love, faith, and joy will continue to live on through the many lives she touched.
Left to cherish her memory are her beloved daughters, Ariene and Journee; her father, Clay Caston; her sister, Meshell Caston; her brothers, Claydell Caston and Tovarres (Kendra) Caston; her nephew, Timmothy Caston; and her nieces, Daquiri Magallanes and Trinity Caston. She also leaves behind a host of other treasured relatives and dear friends whose lives were touched by her presence.
