Richard Earl Hemphill was born in Midland, Tx. to the late Elnora Shaw, and Billy Woods. Richard attended Washington Elementary and later attended Carver High School. Richard occupied numerous job positions throughout his career, with his most significant roles being at Rocky Ford and Mayflower moving company. Richard enjoyed depicting his culinary skills (cooking), dancing, and diligent yard maintenance. Slick Rick enjoyed dressing sharp. He was very charismatic and sociable. He would strike up a conversation with a stranger. He loved his family and enjoyed family gatherings. Richard was baptized at Antioch Baptist Church in Midland Tx.
Richard was welcomed home by his loving mother Elnora Shaw, his father, Billy Woods, his grandfather, Bascom Shaw, his grandmother, Mary Jane Shaw, his sisters, Lois Brazell, Thelma Williams, Joyce Ann Collins, Glenda Akins, his brothers, Fred Lewis, Alfred Lee Hemphill, his nephews Gerald Lewis, Leon Hemphill, and Randy Chambers, his niece Yshun Hemphill.
He is survived by his daughter, Erma Wilson (Austin Tx.) Kiara Wilson, Demondre Harris, Cameron Petterson, his daughter Karen Wilson (Midland Tx.) Derrick Jernigan, Dedrick Thompson, his daughter Tyeshia Hemphill (Midland Tx.), his daughter, Yvola Polk (Bryant Tx), his Aunt Johnny Mae Ellis, his sister Irma Jean Maulmontri (Midland Tx.), his niece Virgie Lenard(Algie) (Midland Tx),his niece Alicia M. Archie(James),his niece Marchette Dewberry( Midland Tx), his soulmate Evelyn Braziel,(Midland Tx.), his 8 step children and a host of cousins and friends. Richard had an unwavering passion for making people happy.
He is deeply cherished and will be truly missed.
